GLACIER

Tasting Notes: Citrus Fruit, Pear, Dates

Roast: Medium

Origin: Costa Rica

Processing Method: Washed

Recommended Brew Method: Chemex / Pour-Over

Named for the 150+ glaciers in the park in the mid 19th century, Glacier’s history and its ability to enamour and attract people goes back thousands of years. Native Americans inhabited the area for over 10,000 years; however, its history as a US National Park began in 1885, when George Bird Grinnel hired a famous explorer at the time, James Willard Schultz, to guide him on a hunting expedition in the area. Grinnel would make many more trips to the region and spend the next 20 years trying to make it a park. Finally, in 1910, with the support of The Boone and Crockett Club and Louis W. Hill, president of The Great Northern Railway, Grinnel introduced a bill to Congress to make the area a National Park, which was signed into law by William Howard Taft in 1910.

GRAND CANYON

Tasting Notes: Mango, Caramel, Coconut

Roast: Medium

Origin: Honduras

Processing Method: Washed

Recommended Brew Method: Drip

Nearly 2 billion years in the making, The Grand Canyon is one of the most stunning geological features on Planet Earth. 277 Miles long, nearly 18 miles across at its widest, and over a mile deep in some places, this monumental canyon is easily visible from space. First protected by Theodore Roosevelt in 1906 under the name “The Grand Canyon Game Reserve”, the expanse then became a US National Monument in 1908. Despite efforts from mining companies and developers to exploit the land for 12 more years, The Grand Canyon officially became a National Park on February 26, 1919. Inspired by the colors in the layers of The Grand Canyon, we’ve selected a washed coffee from Honduras with bright and colorful layers of flavor notes of mango, caramel, and coconut.

SAND DUNES

Tasting Notes: Cacao, Lemon, Grape

Roast: Medium

Origin: Guatemala

Processing Method: Washed

Recommended Brew Method: French Press

The dunes of Great Sand Dunes National Park are the tallest sand dunes in North America, with the largest rising over 750 ft high. The area has an incredible history, with the first evidence of human inhabitants dating back 11,000 years. The hunter/gatherers traveled to the area hunting woolly mammoths and Bison. In fact, when the Spanish made their first recorded visit to the area around 1700, it was specifically to hunt Bison. Much like other National Parks, it was the railroads and their interest in tourist dollars that helped bolster efforts to protect the park from mining and development interests. Great Sand Dunes became a National Monument in 1932 by President Herbert Hoover; however, it wasn’t until 2004 that the area officially became Great Sand Dunes National Park.
